Supplier changeover control

Injection mold transfer &
second-source support.

Move customer-owned tooling to a new supplier with controlled records, trial comparisons, inspection evidence and production release steps.

A practical sourcing route

Make the next
decision clearer.

A mold transfer is a requalification project, not only a freight movement. InjeForm helps buyers establish what is known about the tool, inspect its condition, compare samples, close missing records and define the evidence needed before the new supplier becomes an approved source.

Project fit

Where this route
helps most.

Start with the questions that affect tooling, quality, timing and total program risk.

01

Second-source programs and supplier risk reduction

02

Tooling moved after a factory or commercial change

03

Customer-owned molds with incomplete handover records

What buyers can align

Evidence that supports
the next gate.

Scope the work around decisions and records—not broad promises.

02

Mold identity, component and change-history reconciliation

Defined with the part, tool, material, volume and acceptance requirements in scope.

03

How the conversation moves

From brief to
controlled next step.

Use the first conversation to identify what is known, what is open and what evidence should come next.

  1. 01

Collect tool files, approved parts, material and production history.

  2. 02

Inspect the received mold and document gaps or damage.

  3. 03

Run a controlled comparison trial against the agreed reference.

  4. 04

Approve, conditionally approve or correct before routine production.

Buyer questions

Clear answers before
you commit.

Can any injection mold be moved to a new supplier?+

Transfer feasibility depends on tool condition, interfaces, documentation, machine compatibility, material and the new supplier’s ability to reproduce the approved process. An incoming review should identify limitations before shipment or production commitment.

What should travel with the mold?+

Agree the tool identity, drawings, component list, cooling and electrical information, maintenance history, trial parameters, approved samples, material direction, change records and spare parts.

Does a mold transfer require a new FAI?+

Often a new or partial first-article review is appropriate because the machine, process, inspection method or tool condition may change. The required scope should be tied to risk and the quality agreement.
